The Essentials:
Minimum Age: 17 years to join training; 18 years for license issuance.
Educational Baseline: 10+2 passed with Physics and Mathematics from a recognized board (or equivalent certification).
Open Schooling / Non-Science Tracks: If you completed your 10+2 without Physics or Math, you can clear these subjects externally via the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) to become fully eligible.

eGCA Registration & Computer Number
Your DGCA Computer Number is your unique, permanent identification number issued by the Central Examination Organisation (CEO). Without it, you cannot register for or sit any official pilot exams. Consider this analogous to your class roll No./PAN/Aadhaar.
The Essentials:
Applications are submitted online through the centralized eGCA portal, followed by fulfilling the current offline physical verification guidelines mandated by the board..
There is no requirement of an agent or broker for any submission to DGCA via these portals.

Check eligibility for Medicals (Class II & Class I)
You must prove you are physically fit to command a commercial airliner. Pilot medicals are split into two mandatory steps and must be conducted exclusively by DGCA Authorized medical examiners.
The Essentials:
Class II Medicals: Your initial entry point even before you clear DGCA exams. Conducted by appointed civil doctors across India. This must be completed first to open your medical file on the government portal.
Class I Medicals: The comprehensive commercial airline standard, conducted at specialized Air Force Medical Board centers (IAM, AFCME) or designated civil hospitals.

In case you are worried about Class-2 Medical standards, here is a quick guide:
At least 16 years old with healthy vision, no color blindness, normal resting vitals, and no disqualifying chronic medical conditions.
Vision Requirements: Distant Vision: 6/6 in one eye and 6/9 in the other, or 6/6 in both (corrected with glasses/contacts). Unaided vision must be 6/60 or better. Near Vision: N5 or better for reading cockpit instruments. Color Vision: Must pass the Ishihara plate test; color blindness is disqualifying. Surgery: LASIK/PRK is permitted but requires a mandatory 6-month waiting period post-surgery before Class-2 medical test.
- Mandatory Medical Tests: Physical & Vitals: Body Mass Index (BMI) assessment, resting blood pressure, and neurological reflexes. Blood & Urine: Complete Blood Count (CBC), fasting blood sugar, cholesterol (lipid profile), kidney function, and general urine analysis. Cardiopulmonary: Electrocardiogram (ECG) and Chest X-ray. Audiometry: Standard hearing check to ensure normal conversational range (no more than 35 dB loss).
- Required Documents: Identity Proof (Aadhaar Card or Passport) Date of Birth Proof (10th standard mark sheet or Certificate) Recent passport-size photographs, Filled CA-35 Medical Form (available via the official DGCA portal). Existing spectacle prescription and past medical records (if applicable).
- Validity & Renewal: Under 40 years: Valid for 24 months (2 years); 40 years and above: Valid for 12 months (1 year).
